Coquina Sands was one of the original sections of the town of Naples and was named after the tiny mollusks that bury themselves in the sand in the Gulf of Mexico.

ATTRACTION
Port Royal is located at the end of beautiful Old Naples and is at proximity to many attractions. The Naples Pier is located less than 2 miles from Port Royal and extends in the Gulf of Mexico to allow sightseeing and fishing. The Pier features restrooms, showers, a concession stand with covered eating area, and beach supplies. The Palm Cottage, located near the Pier, was built in 1895 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Cambier Park is a community park in the center of Old Naples where free outdoor movies are shown during the year. The park also has playgrounds, a community building, and a theater auditorium. Cambier Park hosts many art shows and charity events throughout the season. Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club hosts a beautiful semi-private golf course, the oldest course in the area. Jack Nicklaus in collaboration with architect John Sanford, have designed this championship golf course. Jack Nicklaus has a historical tie with the original course. At age 10, he first broke 40 for nine holes on the resort's course, shooting a 37! The par-71 routing plan consists of five tees, ranging from 4,800 yards to over 6,900 yards. In addition, there is a 300-yard practice and teaching range.
